The library of the newly renovated Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The library is accessible to the public and has an extensive collection of old and new art books. The renovated museum is truly worth a few visits and so is the library. June 2014.

Ancient mosaic in an old monastery on the Greek Island of Chios, all the way in the East of the country, just off the Turkish coast. It is always fascinating how they could bring people to life with tiny bits of glass or ceramic.

A fish market on the Atlantic coast, Diouff, Senegal. The fishermen land with their canoe and are immediately surrounded by fish mongers who buy the catch to take it the markets in Dakar, capital of Senegal. This photo was taken in 1983.

The old Khmer ruins of Angkor World heritage area are among the most spectacular places to visit. Situated near Siem Reap, Cambodia, The complex is large and has many temples, including the main Angkor Wat complex, which is the largest religious building in the world. Here, in a temple that has been partly taken over by trees and roots, and old man sweeps the leaves of the ground. Photo from 2002.

Every year, in October, there is one boat racing festival in Laos that stops the nation. It is the Vientiane boat racing festival. While there are many other boat races in Laos, none stands out like the Vientiane one. The winners become national heroes. This photo was taken in October 2010.

Fish market in Kampala, Uganda. This is 1988, when the country was still trying to recover from a string of brutal dictatorships. Money was not worth anything and much of the trade was barter.

Visiting the old Khmer ruins in the South of Laos, on Wat Phu. It is a long climb, but the ruins and the views are worth it. August 2012.
